Paris, 13 July 1789. Bread costs more than a day's wage, foreign regiments ring the city, and the streets are one spark away from revolution. At first light Margot Duclos, the loudest fishwife of Les Halles, finds that her seventeen-year-old son has left her a note she cannot read and run off to join the uprising. To bring him home, she has to cross a city on the boil. A historical adventure where the city reacts to everything she does.
