Floor 47 of an office tower with no ground floor, where it has been 4:52 on a working afternoon for longer than anyone can say. A polite junior analyst finds a memo: his Form 7B, the Notice of Departure, is incomplete. He has no form, no memory of his name and no idea what he was hired to do, and the elevator only goes up. A Kafkaesque thriller in which the monster is bureaucracy.
